This barbell is made from bearings which make it ideal for olympic lifting. This allows spin that it on the bar when doing the snatch or clean and jerk. There is also a knurling on the bar specifically for olympic lifting to help you know where to place the hands. Concerning the coating or finish, this bar has a zinc finish which is not as high quality as other type finishes like stainless steel or chrome. The finish is very smooth and fine though, which allow for better olympic lifts. The bar is also friction welded giving it a very strong hold and protecting the sleeves from wear and tear.

This barbell is made specifically for olympic weightlifting, but other lifts can be performed as well. If you are using a very heavy amount of weight though, you will want to look at a different bar that does not have as much rotation. If you do not plan on doing cleans or snatches and need a bar only for basic lifting, you may want to consider a hybrid bar which can be used for general lifting or olympic lifting.

When it comes to the durability of a barbell, there are many different factors that come into play. This includes the number of individuals using the bar, the lifts it is being used for, as well as the environment that it is in. If you’re looking at the different finishes that are used, stainless steel is the best since if allows little if no corrosion and requires the least maintaince. Other finishes aren’t as durable. This barbell is made from a zinc finish which is known to peel and corrode if used in certain conditions. A humid environment specifically is not good for any barbell made from a zinc finish. If you are going to be using this bar yourself and it is not going to be used at a public gym it may be a good choice, but this may not be a good purchase for a public gym with multiple users.

Because this barbell is designed specifically for the olympic lifts, the price is more expensive than your average bar. Any other type bar such as a hybrid bar is going to be cheper than an olympic barbell. This bar does come with a lifetime warrenty which means if it breaks for any reason other than abuse, a replacement will be provided. Other bars for general training or power lifting are more affordable, so unless you’re training specifically for the olympic lifts, you may want to look at other options.

The rogue olympic barbell is made specifically for the clean and jerk and snatch. This is why it has a nice spin to it and allows for very smooth lifts which is needed when performing thest two lifts. The knurls that are provided allow you to place your hands correctly for the olympic lifts. The zinc finish that is used makes it smooth and less friction to the hands. Overall, this barbell is ideal for olympic lifting because of the spin and smooth movements. If you are training for general lifts or power lifting, many other more affordable barbells are available that you would want to look at.
